The back-and-forth season for the Lambton Lions continues in the 2021 College Call of Duty regular season. After starting the season 3-0. the Lions lost 6 consecutive matches before ending that losing streak one week ago with a pair of wins over Brock University and York University. Now, a new winning streak has been amassed — the longest one of the season for the Lions.
Week 7 of CCL marked the beginning of the league’s “Split 2” — where divisions have been rearranged and opponents determined based on “Split 1” standings. More information on the format can be found beginning on Page 21 of the CCL Player Handbook. The first opponent for the Lions was SUNY Buffalo out of Buffalo, New York. The match quickly turned in favour of the Lions as Fonz Roberts made his return to the lineup, taking Game 1 (Moscow – Hardpoint) 250-204. Game 2 (Garrison – Search & Destroy) resulted in a 6-3 win for Lambton, followed by a 3-1 win (Checkmate – Control) to complete the sweep.
Immediately following that match, the Lions squared off against Army West Point (West Point, NY). Lambton would go on to once again complete the sweep (Moscow – Hardpoint 250-54, Moscow – Search & Destroy 6-2, Checkmate – Control 3-1) and improve to 7-0 in Split 2, firming their grasp on the top spot in the Bottom Cut standings of the Metropolitan division.
Week 8 will see the Lions face Utica Esports (Utica College) and BESTAP (Concordia University) on Tuesday March 23rd.
