The Lambton Lions Rocket League team wrapped up the regular season with their first-ever division title, and their winning ways have continued into the NECC National Championship tournament.
The Lions were placed in Group F of the Emergents Conference along with Wartburg College Orange (Waverly, IA), Assumption University (Worcester, MA) and SIUC Maroon (Carbondale, IL). With all three group stage matches scheduled for this past Monday evening, the Lions were in for a tough battle. However, the Lions would rise to the occasion and sweep all three matches with a 3-0 score in each best-of-5 series.
As the winners of Group F, Lambton will now advance to the quarterfinals of the NECC Emergents conference national championship set for June 15th-17th. Their quarterfinal opponent has not yet been determined. This will be the first time in school history that a team has advanced this far into any NECC Nationals competition.
