Heading into the second weekend of competition, The Lions were tied for 1st place in “Collegiate Cold War presented by Steelseries”. Lambton College was one of 35 teams to have a 2-0 record after the first two rounds of play had been completed.
Liberty University out of Lynchburg, Virginia was Lambton’s Round 4 opponent. Originally scheduled for Sunday, both teams agreed to move to a Saturday afternoon match.
Game 1 in the best-of-5 match saw Liberty defeat Lambton in the Hardpoint game mode. Game 2 moved to Search & Destroy, where Liberty jumped out to a 4-1 lead before Lambton stormed back to win the ‘S&D’ format, tying the series at 1-1. Momentum swung back in favour of Liberty University as both the Control round and second Hardpoint round would end in their favour. With that, Liberty University defeated Lambton College 3-1 in the best-of-5 match, dropping Lambton’s tournament record to 2-1. Liberty University now sits atop the “Collegiate Cold War” standings with a 4-0 record.
Round 3 had the Lions scheduled to play “Ottawa Gold”, but due to a no-show, the Lions took the default win to improve to 3-1 on the season and now are tied for 10th in the league.
