After amassing a four-match winning streak, the Lambton Lions Overwatch team had momentum on their side heading into the final weekend of regular season play in the Tespa Overwatch Collegiate Championship.
Up first for the Lions was their final National League match of the 2019 campaign as they faced the 4-2 Utah Valley University. UVU were quick to dismiss the Lions with a 2-0 sweep after squaring off in the Eichenwalde and Lijiang Tower maps.
The Lions finish the National League season with a 4-3 match record (6-6 game record) placing them 179th out of 531 teams.
Later in the evening, the Lions would take on ‘Equinox’ out of the University of Akron. Equinox would take the first game in the best-of-3 match, conquering the Junkertown map. The Lions would even the series after winning the Volskaya Industries round, and would go on to complete the comeback by defeating Equinox at Rialto.
The victory would give the Lambton Lions a 3-2 match record (6-5 game record), placing them 12th out of 33 teams in Region 13 of the Tespa Regional League.
The Lions now prepare for the first round of Regional League playoffs this Sunday evening when they face the ‘Wayne Wolves’ out of Wayne State University.
