The first day of the inaugural season of Ontario Post-Secondary Esports (OPSE) saw the Lambton Lions Rocket League team square off against a strong Sault College trio.
The Lions fielded Ahrupt, Sin, and Fowler — all in their second season with Lambton Lions Esports — to face off with Duck, Xtra and Chiller from the Sault Cougars.
The first game in their best-of-5 series did not bode well for the Lions as Sault College took Game 1 with a 3-0 score. The Lions offence found the back of the net twice in the following game, but the Sault College offence answered with 5 goals of their own to take Game 2 by a score of 5-2. Game 3 would be the closest score in the series, but still favoured Sault College 3-2, handing the Lions a 3-0 series loss to drop their OPSE regular season debut.
The Lambton Lions are back in action Friday October 16 when the face the Conestoga Condors.
