Lambton College is teaming up with ProGuides to conduct a multi-phase research study on the effects that coaching, analytics and lifestyle have on a player’s gameplay. This study will cover a wide range of topics related to personal gameplay and lifestyle habits. Jared Chapman and Jamie Savoie — both second-year students in the Esports Entrepreneurship and Administration program — are leading the study.
“We’re trying to see the correlation between lifestyle habits (sleeping, eating, etc) and mechanical skills such as reaction time and hand-eye coordination,” says Chapman. “Does a healthier lifestyle lead to better in-game performance? If so, how much better? This study will hopefully provide a clear answer to that.”
The pair of students are looking for up to 40 League of Legends players to give approximately 5 hours of their time over the course of 4 weeks. Compensation will be provided to those participants. Savoie mentions there is a high demand for coaching. “There are a lot of people who want to receive one-on-one coaching, and this is a good opportunity for them to get that experience while actually getting paid for it.”
The study involves League of Legends players completing online training modules, receiving one-on-one coaching from a remote ProGuides “instaPRO”, and filling out questionnaires throughout the process.
